Australia seems to be moving away from it’s colonial roots more and more if the latest census correctly informs us. There were more people than ever who filled in the census and another striking aspect was the impact of Covid and lockdown geographically and in the types of responses. Only about 75% of the results have been released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). one notable shift according to id.com.au was: The population reporting “no religion” or secular beliefs such as atheism and agnosticism has increased from 30% to almost 39% in 2021. Australia has certainly shifted since the religious halycon days of the 19th century and the twentieth century early to mid century periods.
